The beauty of textile

Pat is an Internationally renowned textile artist, who travels extensively worldwide to exhibit and teach. On her stand she will be demonstrating a variety of techniques, including painted Lutradur, Markal paintsticks, gilding and foiling fabrics and also how to use her unique Transfer Templates. A showcase of illusions and a kaleidoscope of colours – in quilt! Come and see this new exhibition of over 40 quilts all designed to fool the eye. There’s everything from 3D effects in 2D, transparency and impossible triangles. All pieces were created by The Modern Quilt Group of the Quilters’ Guild of the British Isles.

Jay Raven’s Inventors Asylum merges art, craft and science to bring you an amazing array of creations. From 200-year old photography techniques like cyanotypes to post apocalyptic stage costume, there is something for everyone.  Come and see how technology and craft blend together to make fantastic things happen and even join in!

Internationally acclaimed tutor, lecturer and author of nine books, Jennie Rayment is totally obsessed with twiddling, fiddling, nipping, tucking and manipulating! From sewing machine to over-locker and by hand, stitch enthusiasts will be addicted to her novel designs. Jennie is an entertaining and educational lecturer; she also demonstrates on television.

Queen of Rust

Bex Raven, The Queen of Rust will demonstrate the unique approach to dyeing and stitching.  Drawing inspiration from historical Japan to the modern day and beyond, her techniques include hand and machine embroidery as well as dressmaking. Visit her stand to find out more about the life changing art of Wabi Sabi.

Art Clay

Tracey is a qualified senior Art Clay and PMC instructor. With 20 plus years experience, she teaches at Craftworx studio in East Yorkshire, and travels extensively in the UK, as well as being a guest designer on Jewellery Maker TV. Tracey will be doing demos on her stand.

CarolAnn is an artist/educator specialising in hand embroidery, based in Yorkshire, where she runs workshops. Also teaching English paper piecing, stitched Shibori, eco printing and dying with the importance on ‘slow’ textiles and traditional skills.

EventCity is easily accessible by car. If travelling from the M60 take Junction 9 for the A5081 and follow signs for Barton Dock Road. SatNav postcode: M17 8AS.

By Bus/Rail
Manchester Piccadilly – Bus service X50 or 250 from Piccadilly Gardens Bus Station descending at the EventCity bus stop. Manchester Victoria – Bus service 100 (every 12 minutes) or Service 110 (every 20 minutes) descending at The Trafford Centre bus station

EventCity will be running an express Shuttle bus from the main bus stop at the Trafford Centre to EventCity.
