Glimpses of Brazil

The theme for this year’s Madeira embroidery competition is ‘Glimpses of Brazil’, supported by STITCH magazine with the Embroiderer’s Guild. Brazil is a vast country that evokes many colourful images and of course it’s the venue for the Olympic games. The overall winner and best of the rest will be on display. Details of how to enter next year’s competition - Glimpses of the Roaring 20’s – coming soon at

A Cardigan for Cardigan

In celebration of the 900-year anniversary of Cardigan town, designer Lisa Hellier created a giant cardigan depicting the town’s heritage. People from all walks of life came together to create this truly magical work of art over one year. Not to be missed! Supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The Living World

“The Living World” is the theme for this year’s Quilters’ Guild of the British Isles touring exhibition. These beautiful quilts are based on flora and fauna in the natural world, inspired by the quilter’s local surroundings in the UK, or more exotic places visited whilst traveling abroad.

Girls will be Girls

Girls will be Girls is a celebration of all those beautiful dresses little girls really should wear, showcased by the National Needlework Archive. Smocked, embroidered, tucked, flounced and frilled – this unique collection of dresses – including day dresses, play wear and communion gowns - has been exquisitely created by textile conservator Wendy Hickson who is presently working on the Country Wife Mural at the NNA (National Needlework Archive). Forget chain stores – come and enjoy how things ought to be!

Korbond Group Creative Upcycling Challenge

Here is your chance to showcase your creative sewing talent through upcycling! With over 140 million pounds of unwanted clothes being thrown away in the UK every year; and at least four out of five adults having a least one item of clothing that they haven’t worn in at least a year. Here's a chance to get those unwanted clothes out of the wardrobe and onto the catwalk!

Crickhowell Stitches

Crickhowell Stitches is a community arts project, comprising of two long textile panels, commissioned by the arts charity: Arts Alive in Wales, as part of a project exploring the unique natural and built environment of South Powys. Illustrator and textile artist Lisa Hellier designed the panels and worked with local people to represent the buildings and characters of the High Street. The first panel took one year to complete, using mixed media, and it soon became apparent that they wanted to stitch the other side of the street too!
